High Knowhere is a blend of four musicians who have travelled very different paths to arrive at this point in their musical journey. Guitarists Bill Dowell and Steve Farley met in Crested Butte, Colorado back in the 90's and performed as a duo for many years, with the desire of forming a full on rock and roll band at some point. Drummer Neil Gainous hails from the south, where he performed in several different bands over the years, then moved up to the mountains and continued his musical journey, perfecting his craft and laying down the rhythm foundation for several different bands along the way. Bassist Cathy McNeil came to the group through a mutual friend who persuaded the others to let her sit in on a birthday gig for that friend. After the original bass player left the band, Cathy jumped in with her energy, original songs and attention to vocal details and quickly became an inspiration and light for the band. Originally playing mostly classic rock covers, the band is excited to be writing and recording original songs using the classic rock and roll we all grew up with as inspiration for the music we want to make now. We still enjoy a good cover tune- putting our own interpretation and stamp on them- but are most excited to be creating music from our own experiences and then crafting them into a song. We can't wait to get back to the studio and begin work on the next batch of tunes.
