Alan Lorber,successful producer and leading arranger in the USA in the early 60s, explored cross-market orchestral fusions in the hits he made for the top artists of the time. The Lotus Palace was the springboard for the Eastern Indian/jazz fusion mix of classical Indian instrumentation, (the sitar, tamboura, tabla), against reverberating Western orchestration. Featured in the album, are sitarist Colin Walcott & jazz flutist Jerome Richardson. Hit cuts include 'Mas Que Nada' a 15 year staple of Germany's Mojo Club's Dancefloor Jazz, and 'Within You, Without You' most recently included in the Thievery Corporation Club compilations. Other current Alan Lorber orchestral albums include his new virtual 21st Century Orchestra series of his contempory works, his reissues of the 1966 Abbey Road recordings of Dylan & Peter Paul & Mary music, and unique spoken word works with musical accompaniment.
