This guy writes really nice songs: introspective, melodic, kind of catchy. Did you know he's also a rapper? This album is about as edgy as a sphere, but it's kind of sweet in it's own way. Some of the lyrics will make you think, the rest will make you listen to the instruments. And that's what's solid here: performances by some talented Ann Arbor musicians. Check out the sax on 'Firewalker', the guitar on 'Running out of Time'. Grab an individual track or two on iTunes. Then search for "Melkbone" on CD Baby and find out what happens when this nice personable white boy gets pissed off and turns gangsta: better lyrics, worse music, a lot more edge.
